The History of Made By Molli
Made By Molli was founded in 2014 by Joy-Ann Molliana Johnson, a self-made creative who started by designing college event flyers for her alma mater, UTech Jamaica. Known affectionately as "Molli" on her dorm, she took pride in personally crafting every design.
This was long before the establishment of our Department of Creative Services, MBM's elite private team that handles day-to-day creative projects. From these humble beginnings, the name "Made By Molli" was born.
Our proud heritage of sound branding began here, creating
artistry for our college parties.

Brand Symbology
The Onyx
The Onyx is an umlaut. An umlaut, in language, references a character with a different vowel quality, expressing a unique variation within a set.
For me, it symbolizes a character meant to fit in, but instead, stands out—this is the essence of who Molli is as a person.
The circle, or "o", represents unison, completion, and natural perfection, while the lower dot centers and balances the overall form.

Made By Molli, which flaunts black and white stripes, represents an artist who stands for consistency, and the ability to flow.
It’s practical enough to stand the test of time, but fluid enough to to be relevant in any time and any place.
This minimal brand identity is the face that represents a resilient woman, primarily self made, and determined to make it in a world where she’s never quite fit in.
Here to share her dramatic oddness with others, she has have always been determined to speak my creative truth. This brand is one of power, beauty and mystique.

The Studio
In 2021, Made By Molli took the leap to move into our first commercial brick-and-mortar home. Our 3D office model was developed by a good friend of mine, the principal of H3D Concepts. This design was crafted in accordance with Made By Molli's brand design and values.
Due to the dynamic nature of business, we ultimately had to move from this location. However, this design remains one of our all-time favorites.
